OZARK STREET MACHINE NATIONALS

TYDO Hangin' em' high!

There was NO doubt Street Machine National's would be the Midwest’s event of the year. Thursday nights test and tune lived up to all the hype and anticipation when a prepped and ready for take off TYDO wagon came to life in Limited 10.5. The wag showed promise early with a 5.20 on its third pass and followed on Saturday with a 5.15 and 5.10. The fans got what the came for on the second pass with a legendary TYDO wheelie from Mark.

Unfortunately, the new car gremlins showed their face and a D.Q ended the wagons day. It seemed the gremlins were not finished in the Tydo camp when Tim Slaven's Outlaw Camaro broke a piston and John Slaven's Camaro in Drag Radial car kicked a rod, ending their big weekend.

Jake Gier, posting a 5.38 in drag radial qualifying, wasn't without his share of trouble when his Mopar broke a transmission Friday night. Saturday he suffered a few bruises from a monster wheelie that stopped his run. The Drag Radial finals saw David vs. Goliath with the small block powered Luv truck of Donnie Davidson against the new track record holder Kieth Zimmerly and his impressive 79 Malibu with a 632. Davidson beat Goliath when Zimmerly had transmission problems that handed the win to the little truck.

So Peanut (James Davis) and Mike Kimmis were left to carry the Tydo load. Peanut, still working on the new turbo combo lost against the #2 qualifier and veteran Kerry Davis. Marty Chance was eventually crowned the winner in a tuff Limited 10.5 brawl that didn't see the finals till 5am. Mike Kimmis, who’s been fighting all year with his Trans Am, found the reason for his glitch and blasted down the 1/8th mile to set a new record of 163mph. He eventually went on to take the win over Jeremy Taylor in the finals in Outlaw 10.5.

A big thanks to all the friend's and fans for there support along with Wes Phifer and the Ozark crew for putting on a great race! We had an amazing time. Also Thanks to mild to wild grafix for the new roof sticker, it was a big hit. We can't forget Rikki Kelley from TopDogracnpics for the great photo. We are off to Tulsa, race fans, see you there. Congrats to all the winners C. Barklage, Outlaw Big Tire M. Kimmis, Outlaw 10.5 M. Chance, Limited 10.5 D.Davidson, Drag Radial
